CARLISLE, PA – Franklin & Marshall’s Libby Haas (Jr., Wrightsville, PA/Eastern York) won the high jump with a height of 5’-5” to lead the Diplomats as F&M finished third at the 2006 Little Three Championships versus Dickinson College and Gettysburg College at Dickinson’s Biddle Field. In other first place finishes, the Diplomats 4X400 relay finished first in a time of 4:24.64 as Franklin & Marshall totaled 107 points, an increase of 21 points from the team’s 86 point performance at home in Sponaugle-Williamson Field in the 2005 Little Three meet. The distance medley relay added a second place finish (13:59.09) before Karen Ziga (Jr., Haverford, PA/Haverford) finished third (19:54.60) and Karen Blacher (So., Miami, FL/Gulliver Prep) took sixth (22:33.17) in the 5,000 meters. F&M took two of the top three finishes in the 800 meters as Nikki Salenetri (Jr., Crosswicks, NJ/Northern Burlington) and Johanna Jasinski (Fr., Lebanon, NH/Lebanon) crossed the finish line in 2:35.02 and 2:37.31 for second and third place, respectively. Katie Byrne (Fr., Gettysburg, PA/Gettysburg) tacked on a third place finish in the 1500 meters (5:10.05) before Meredith Janeczek (Jr., Hershey, PA/Hershey), Julia Schwartz (Sr., Fort Collins, CO/Poudre) and Emily Weir (So., Villanova, PA/Upper Merion) finished third (11:20.15), sixth (12:19.93) and eighth (13:00.40) in the 3000 meters to close out the Diplomats distance events. F&M had a strong showing in the sprints as Brittney Dhein (Sr., Telford, PA/Pennridge) and Pauline Kint (Fr., Chatham, NJ/Chatham) placed second (28.31) and fifth (31.12) in the 200 meters, Maggie Selzer (So., State College, PA/State College) and Janeczek finished first (1:13.77) and fourth (1:18.01) in the 400 meter hurdles, Haas and Erica Losito (Fr., Chatham, NJ/Chatham) finished second (1:02.64) and fourth (1:05.04) in the 400 meters, Selzer placed fourth in the 100 meter hurdles (19.25) and Dhein and Kint placed second (13.55) and fifth (14.52) in the 100 meters. In addition, the 4X100 relay team crossed the line in 54.49 to place second. In other field events, Laura Lautenbacher (Jr., Langhorne, PA/Nazareth Academy) placed fourth in the pole vault (8-6) and sixth in the triple jump (8.84 meters), Erin Gleason (Fr., Bayonne, NJ/Mount Saint Dominion) finished second in the shot put (35-11.75) and third in the javelin (82-11) and discus (99-6) and Alyssa Catalano (Fr., Selinsgrove, PA/Selinsgrove) finished fifth (32-7.75 in the shot put and sixth in the discus (93-0). Losito added a sixth place finish in the long jump (3.71 meters), Gettysburg College won the meet title with a total of 147 points, while Dickinson (128) and F&M (107) placed second and third.
