COLLEGEVILLE, PA – Franklin & Marshall College set two school records as the Diplomats placed sixth at the 2006 Centennial Conference Women’s Indoor Track Championships hosted by Ursinus College. In the shot put, Erin Gleason (Fr., Bayonne, NJ/Mount Saint Dominion) tossed the implement 35-9.25 to place fourth and shatter the previous Franklin & Marshall College record of 35-8 established by Bryn Benford ’05 last year. In addition, the women’s 4X200 team of Brittney Dhein (Sr., Telford, PA/Pennridge), Libby Haas (Jr., Wrightsville, PA/Eastern York), Megan Hunter (Fr., Allentown, PA/Emmaus) and Erica Losito (Fr., Chatham, NJ/Chatham) crossed the finish line in a time of 1:52.87 to place sixth and break the previous record of 1:53.26 established by Beth Randolph ’06, Jeannette Finster ’04, Dhein and Tara Cooney ’06 in 2003. In other top 10 finishes, Haas won the high jump with a leap of 5-02.25, Laura Lautenbacher (Jr., Langhorne, PA/Nazareth Academy) placed fourth in the high jump with a height of 9-00.25, Alyssa Catalano () placed ninth in the shot put with a throw of 33-06.75 and Karen Ziga (Jr., Haverford, PA/Haverford) placed seventh in the 5000 meters in a time of 19:04.67 The 4X400 relay of Haas, Dhein, Hunter and Losito placed sixth in 4:16.57, while the 4X800 relay of Katie Byrne (Fr., Gettysburg, PA/Gettysburg), Hunter, Johanna Jasinski (Fr., Lebanon, NH/Lebanon) and Nikki Salenetri (Jr., Crosswicks, NJ/Northern Burlington) placed fifth in 10:12.96. Further, the Distance Medley Relay of Salenetri, Haas, Hunter and Byrne placed fifth in 13:11.30 as the Diplomats registered 14 points in the relays. Overall, Haas led the Diplomats as she accounted for 20 of the team’s 35.5 points as Franklin & Marshall placed sixth of 10 teams. Franklin & Marshall will continue the season on March 3-4 at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Ursinus College. Team Scores:
