Haas Breaks High Jump Record at Franklin & Marshall Indoor Track Invitational

LANCASTER, PA – Libby Haas (Jr., Wrightsville, PA/Eastern York) cleared 5’-4” to erase her own school record of 5’-3.75” set last season and lead the Franklin & Marshall College women’s indoor track team at the 2006 Franklin & Marshall Invitational in the Schander Field House of the Alumni Sports & Fitness Center.

The first indoor track meet hosted by Franklin & Marshall College since February 1, 2003, Franklin & Marshall won five events as Erin Gleason (Fr., Bayonne, NJ/Mount St. Dominion) took the weight throw (36’-06.25”), Haas captured the high jump, the 4X800 relay crossed the finish line first in 10:39.40, the 4X400 placed first in 4:22.01 and Karen Ziga (Jr., Haverford, PA/Haverford) coasted to a win in the 5000 meters (19:01.88).

The team added three second place finishes as Brittney Dhein (Sr., Telford, PA/Pennridge) earned runner-up honors in the 55 meter dash (8.01), Haas in the 400 meters (63.76) and Nikki Salenetri (Jr., Crosswicks, NJ/Northern Burlington) in the 800 meters (2:39.50).

Gleason added a third place finish in the shot put (33’-04.25) while Alyssa Catalano (Fr., Selinsgrove, PA/Selinsgrove) was fifth with a throw of 32’-10.00”. In the 400 meters, Erica Losito (Fr., Chatham, NJ/Chatham) placed fifth in 65.89 to round out the Diplomats top five finishers in the meet.

Franklin & Marshall will continue the season on February 5 at the East Stroudsburg University Invitational.
