Figueroa Named 2003 Franklin & Marshall Women's Cross Country Most Valuable Runner

LANCASTER, PA - Yanira Figueroa (Sr., Mount Vernon, NY/Tuckahoe) has been named the 2003 Franklin & Marshall College Women's Cross Country Most Valuable Runner.

One of three Diplomats to break the 26 minute mark and finish the top 100 runners over the 6,000 meter course at the NCAA Regional Championships, she crossed the line in 25:34 to place second on her team and lead Franklin & Marshall to an 18th place finish as the team defeated Salisbury, Marywood, McDaniel, Grove City, Misericordia, Frostburg, Bryn Mawr, Bethany, Widener, Albright, Penn State Altoona, Westminster, Hood, Waynesburg, Delaware Valley, Goucher, Ursinus, Cedar Crest, Lincoln and Thiel.

At the Dickinson College Invitational, she placed 70th in 17:10.26 over the four kilometer short course as the Diplomats finished 15th in the team standings.
