LANCASTER, PA -- The Franklin & Marshall College Athletic Department has announced that the following list of recruits have submitted their deposit and declared their intention of joining the F&M women's cross country team for the 2003 season: Name (Hometown/High School) Amanda Axsom (West Chester, PA/Westtown School) Meredith Janeczek (Hershey, PA/Hershey) Margaret Laufman (Pittsburgh, PA/Oakland Catholic) Alexandra Racines (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) Margaret van Bakergem (St. Louis, MO/Crossroads) Karen Ziga (Haverford, PA/Haverford) Michelle Zou (Wayne, PA/Radnor) Following a 2002 season in which the team finished ninth in the Centennial Conference and 20th in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, Franklin & Marshall will look to Sarah Aronoff (Jr., Bethesda, MD/Bethesda Chevy Chase) to lead the team. Last season, Aronoff finished 108th at the NCAA Regional in a time of 24:00.11 hosted by Salisbury University on the heels of a 37th place performance at the Centennial Conference Championships. Aronoff and the rest of the Diplomats will open the season on August 30 at the Brian Dennis Memorial Invitational hosted by Ursinus College before travelling to the Bloomsburg University Invitational on September 6 and the Lebanon Valley College Invitational on September 13. Eleven days later on September 24, the Diplomats, Dickinson and host Gettysburg College will meet in the 38th Annual Little Three Championships meet. Hosted continuously since 1966, the F&M women's team will be seeking their first victory since 1993 at Gettysburg, while the men last claimed the event's championship in 1996 at Gettysburg. The season will continue on October 4 at the Dickinson College Invitational, before the team travels to the DeSales University Invitational (10/18) and Gettysburg College Invitational (10/25) to round out the regular season. The Diplomats will seek the Centennial Conference Championship on November 1 at DeSales, as Muhlenberg College will host the CC Cross Country Championships in conjunction with the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships. Two weeks later, the team will compete at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals hosted by Dickinson College. If an individual or the team qualifies, the season will conclude in Hanover, Indiana at the NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championship Meet.
