LANCASTER, PA -- Franklin & Marshall College harriers Meredith Janeczek (So., Hershey, PA/Hershey) and Karen Ziga (So., Haverford, PA/Haverford) are ranked among the Top 20 in the September 28 Centennial Conference Women's Cross Country Coaches Rankings. A member of the September 29 Centennial Conference Women's Cross Country Honor Roll, Janeczek is ranked third in the Conference behind Dickinson's Emily Hulme and Swarthmore's Sarah Hobbes. At the Allegheny Invitational, she finished 14th in 23:15 over the 6,000 meter course to lead the Franklin & Marshall College women’s cross country team to an eighth place finish. To date, Janeczek has been among the region's top harriers as she crossed the finish line in 24:05 over the six-kilometer course at the McDaniel Invitational to finish first. The performance marked the first time an F&M women's harrier has won a meet since Emily Hughes '03 captured the individual title at the 2000 Battle for the Buggy meet versus Millersville University of Pennsylvania and Elizabethtown College. At the Little Three Championships, Janeczek finished third in 18:58.7 over the 5,000-meter course against #9 ranked Gettysburg College and #1 ranked Dickinson College. Ziga, who moved from 14th to 13th in the CC rankings during the last week, placed 35th at the Allegheny Invitational in a time of 24:11. Compiled by Bryn Mawr coach Dan Talbot the rankings are a weekly predictor of placement at the Centennial Conference Championship set for October 30 at McDaniel College. Ranked 10th in the NCAA Mid-East Region Poll, Franklin & Marshall will return to action on October 2 at the Dickinson College Invitational.
