LANCASTER, PA -- Franklin & Marshall College harriers Meredith Janeczek (So., Hershey, PA/Hershey), Karen Ziga (So., Haverford, PA/Haverford) and Yanira Figueroa (Sr., Mount Vernon, NY/Tuckahoe) are ranked among the Top 20 in the October 5 Centennial Conference Women's Cross Country Coaches Rankings. A member of the October 5 Centennial Conference Women's Cross Country Honor Roll, Janeczek moved down one spot from third as she is now ranked fourth in the Conference behind Dickinson's Emily Hulme, Swarthmore's Sarah Hobbes and Dickinson's Abigail Ferguson. In the 6,000-meter race at the Dickinson Invitational on October 2, Janeczek crossed the finish line in 23:37.93 to finish in sixth place. To date, Janeczek has been among the region's top harriers as she crossed the finish line in 24:05 over the six-kilometer course at the McDaniel Invitational to finish first. The performance marked the first time an F&M women's harrier has won a meet since Emily Hughes '03 captured the individual title at the 2000 Battle for the Buggy meet versus Millersville University of Pennsylvania and Elizabethtown College. At the Little Three Championships, Janeczek finished third in 18:58.7 over the 5,000-meter course against #10 ranked Gettysburg College and #1 ranked Dickinson College. Ziga, who remained 13th in the CC rankings, and Figueroa, who moved back into the rankings to grab 14th place after dropping out of the Top 20 last week, finished 24th (24:47.71) and 25th (24:47.71), respectively, at the Dickinson Invitational as the Diplomats finished sixth of 13 teams. Compiled by Bryn Mawr coach Dan Talbot the rankings are a weekly predictor of placement at the Centennial Conference Championship set for October 30 at McDaniel College. Ranked ninth in the October 4 NCAA Mid-East Region Poll, Franklin & Marshall will return to action on October 9 at the Goucher College Invitational.
