Franklin & Marshall Finishes Fifth at Towson Women's Cross Country Invitational

HUNT VALLEY, MD – Meredith Janeczek (Jr., Hershey, PA/Hershey) crossed the finish line in 19:38 to place 15th and lead the Franklin & Marshall women’s cross country team to a fifth place finish at the Towson University Invitational at Oregon Ridge Park.

Overall, the Diplomats placed all five scoring runners within two minutes as Katie Byrne (Fr., Gettysburg, PA/Gettysburg) crossed the line in 20:02 to place 17th and Shannon Weir (So., Villanova, PA/Upper Merion) placed 34th in 20:52. Megan Feehan (Sr., West Chester, PA/Henderson) and Karen Blacher (So., Miami, FL/Gulliver Prep) rounded out the F&M top five as they finished in 21:19 and 21:34 to place 44th and 53rd, respectively, as Franklin & Marshall (153) defeated Delaware State (207), Norfolk State (207), Gettysburg (218), George Mason (227), Morgan State (265), Bryn Mawr (267), Maryland-Eastern Shore (351), Marymount (392) and Coppin State (400).

Dickinson won the invitational, while Salisbury, Towson, Millersville and Franklin & Marshall rounded out the top five teams.

The meet was broken down into Division I and Division II-III races as Towson (26) won the Division I race downing Delaware State (79), Norfolk State (87), George Mason (90), Morgan State (109), Maryland Eastern Shore (154) and Coppin State (184).

Dickinson (27) won the Division II-III race defeating Salisbury (41), Millersville (77), F&M (99), Gettysburg (136), Bryn Mawr (157) and Marymount (221).

Franklin & Marshall will return to the course on September 14 at the Little Three Meet versus Dickinson and Gettysburg at Dickinson College.
