CARLISLE, PA -- Meredith Janeczek (Jr., Hershey, PA/Hershey) finished sixth in 20:03 to lead the Franklin & Marshall College women's cross country team to a second place finish at the 2005 Little Three Championship versus Gettysburg College and Dickinson College hosted by Dickinson. F&M’s finish marks the first time Franklin & Marshall has placed second or higher in the Little Three Championship since the 1999 team was second. In a preview of a possible showdown at the Centennial Conference and NCAA Mid-East Regional Championship meets, Janeczek was the lone runner to break up Dickinson’s pack as the Red Devils finished #1-5 and #7-9 before the Diplomats’ Karen Ziga (Jr., Haverford, PA/Haverford) crossed the line in 10th place in 21:03. F&M’s Katie Byrne (Fr., Gettysburg, PA/Gettysburg) and Shannon Weir (So., Villanova, PA/Upper Merion) followed close behind in 11th (21:04) and 12th (21:06), respectively, before Dickinson took the #13 and 14 positions and Megan Feehan (Sr., West Chester, PA/Henderson) placed 15th (21:35) to round out the Diplomats’ scoring five. Overall, Dickinson took the title defeating F&M 15-48 and Gettysburg 15-50, while F&M downed Gettysburg 15-45 for the Diplomats first win over the Bullets since 1999. The win improves F&M to 12-17-1 all-time against Gettysburg in women’s cross country as the victory marks the second time in school history Franklin & Marshall shutout Gettysburg in cross country. In 1984, the Diplomats defeated Gettysburg 15-48 on their way to winning the Little Three Championship. The race marked the 25th women's Little Three Championship as the Diplomats won titles in 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1991 and 1993.
