CARLISLE, PA – Karen Ziga (Jr., Haverford, PA/Haverford) crossed the finish line in 23:40.7 to tie for 30th and earn All-Region honors at the 2005 NCAA Mid-East Region Championships hosted by Dickinson College on November 12. The top 35 finishers in the race earn All-Region honors as Ziga earned her second All-Region nod in three seasons. In 2003, she placed 62nd in a time of 24:58 to earn All-Region freshman honors as Dickinson hosted the meet. The honor continues a three-year stretch for the Diplomats in which one runner has tallied All-Region notice. In 2004, Meredith Janeczek (Jr., Hershey, PA/Hershey) crossed the finish line in 23:35 to place 25th and earn All-Region honors over the Allegheny College regional course. Historically, she joins Janeczek as the last F&M harriers to earn All-Region honors since Erin Carlson '01, Stephanie Stroud '00 and Lorin Lafemina '00 earned All-Region honors at the 1999 Regional Championships while leading the Diplomats to a fifth place finish. Overall, Ziga led the Diplomats to 12th place among 42 teams as the finish marked the second time F&M has finished in the Top 15 over the last two seasons as the team placed 11th at the 2004 Mid-East Region meet hosted by Allegheny College following four straight finishes out of the Top 15 (2000 – 23rd, 2001 – 17th, 2002 – 20th, 2003 – 18th).
