LANCASTER, PA – Franklin & Marshall College’s Meredith Janeczek (Jr., Hershey, PA/Hershey) has been named to the NCAA Division III Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team. The award marks the second of Janeczek’s career as she earned the honor last year. To be named an NCAA Division III Cross Country Coaches Association Academic All-American, an athlete must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA and finish in the top 25% of the regional meet. The team’s #1 runner for much of the season, she closed out the season on November 12 at Dickinson College as Janeczek crossed the finish line in 24:06.9 to place 40th as the Franklin & Marshall College women’s cross country team finished 12th of 42 teams at the NCAA Mid-East Region Championships. At the 2005 Centennial Conference Championship race hosted by Johns Hopkins University on October 30, she crossed the finish line in 23:23 over the six-kilometer course to earn All-Centennial Conference honors and lead the Diplomats to a fourth place finish. The position marked the second best finish by the Diplomats in the Centennial Conference Championships as the team previously finished ninth (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003), sixth (1994, 1997, 2004), fifth (1993, 1995, 1996, 1998) and third (1999) since the Conference’s first championship race in 1993. A member of the September 13 and 20 and October 11 Centennial Conference Weekly Cross Country Honor Rolls, she recorded her best race of the season on September 24 as she crossed the finish line in 20:03.07 to finish second and lead the Franklin & Marshall women's cross country team to the team title at the 26th Annual Philadelphia Metro Small College Championships in Fairmount Park on the Belmont Plateau. A 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II College Division Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country first team selection last spring, she is a sociology and studio art major Overall, Janeczek was one of nine Centennial Conference runners named to the Academic All-America team. Franklin & Marshall finished the season ranked #11 in final NCAA Mid-East Region Women's Cross Country Coaches Poll.
