Franklin & Marshall to Honor Retirees, 25-Year Employees at Ceremony April 27

LANCASTER, Pa. - Thirteen retiring Franklin & Marshall employees and seven 25-year veterans will be honored for their service to the college Friday, April 27 at 3 p.m. in the Steinman College Center.

The retiring honorees include: Marie Bernhardt (Mountville), secretary, Appel Health Services; Carl Buffington (Lancaster), public safety officer, Department of Public Safety; Emily Haines (Marietta), academic department coordinator, modern languages; John Hershey (Manheim), director of maintenance and operations, facilities and operations; Shirley Holm (Lancaster), nurse manager, Appel Health Services; Penny Jordan (Lancaster), assistant director, human resources; Dorothy Louise (Lancaster), professor, theater, dance and film; Nancy Morgan (Columbia), student payroll clerk, business office; Nathaniel Smith (associate dean for international students and scholar, international programs; James Spencer (Lancaster), William G. & Elizabeth R. Simeral Professor of Chemistry; Glenn Stevens (Shrewsbury), associate professor, business, organizations and society; James Wetzel (Millersville), director of planned giving, development; and Robert Wiebe (Lancaster), professor, earth and environment.

Employees joining the 25-Year Club are: Alan Caniglia (Lancaster), senior associate dean of the faculty and vice provost for planning and institutional research, office of the provost; Anita Focht (New Holland), assistant publications director, college communications; Mary Anne Helm (Willow Street), operations coordinator, computing services; Carol Hickey (Lancaster), senior adjunct instructor, art and art history; Howard Kaye (Wayne), professor, sociology; Phyllis Leber (Lancaster), Dr. E. Paul & Frances H. Reiff Professor of Chemistry; Gary Shaub (Quarryville), carpenter, facilities and operations; and Louise Stevenson (Lancaster), professor, history and American studies.

Each employee who retired within the past year, or who will retire at the end of the current academic year, will receive their selection of either a Franklin & Marshall chair, a Seiko watch, a color print by artist Tom Hermansader, a Heritage brass lamp or Heritage mantel clock. Members of the 25-Year Club will be presented with engraved Bristol Franklin & Marshall mantel clocks.

A reception will follow the ceremony.
