The Government Study Commissioners have interviewed many current and former county officials and managers, individuals from other counties that have undertaken a similar study, and regional and state experts. They are collaborating with Franklin & Marshall’s Floyd Institute - Center for Opinion Research. They are working toward an August deadline for a recommendation on whether or not the structure of Lancaster County Government should be strengthened or made more clearly responsible or accountable to the people or whether its operation could become more economical or efficient under a changed form of government. If a recommendation for change is made, the Government Study Commissioners will continue their work in order to craft a new Charter or outline an optional plan of government which could be placed upon the ballot in 2008. The Government Study Commissioners are performing an impartial, comprehensive review and analysis of our Lancaster County Government, including our current administrative structure and methods of operation. The Lancaster County Government Study Commissioners urge all residents to get involved in offering input as they review county government.
