Franklin & Marshall Ranked Among Nation’s Best Liberal Arts Colleges

LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall has once again been recognized as one of the nation's leading liberal arts colleges by U.S. News and World Report. The magazine's annual survey of America's best colleges ranked Franklin & Marshall 40th overall in the nation.

F&M was tied with Sewanee – University of the South, Union College and the University of Richmond among 125 national liberal arts colleges, schools that emphasize undergraduate education and award at least 40 percent of their degrees in liberal arts disciplines.
Franklin & Marshall was one of eight Pennsylvania schools in the magazine's "Top 50."

The full list included Swarthmore (3), Haverford (10), Bryn Mawr (tied 24), Bucknell (tied 30) and Lafayette (tied 34), Franklin & Marshall (tied 40), Dickinson (tied 44), and Gettysburg (48).

Franklin & Marshall ranked 41st in last year's edition.

U.S. News' "America's Best Colleges" issue has appeared each year since 1987. The magazine uses data on schools' students, faculty, financial resources and alumni satisfaction and support, along with an exclusive survey of their academic reputation among college presidents, deans and directors of admission, to compile its rankings.
