Three Trustees Elected at Franklin & Marshall College

LANCASTER, Pa. -The Board of Trustees at Franklin & Marshall College has elected three new members to serve five-year terms.

Pamela G. Bailey, (Chevy Chase, Md.) is the President and CEO of the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association (CTFA) in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining the CTFA in 2005, she served as President and CEO to the Advanced Medical Technology Association and President of the Healthcare Leadership Council. Bailey also worked in the White House for seventeen years, in positions ranging from speech writer and research assistant to special assistant to the President and Director of the White House Office of Communications Planning. She worked under the Nixon, Ford and Reagan administrations.

Bailey has served as the chair of the board of trustees, treasurer and finance chair for Holton-Arms, a private K-12 school for girls in Bethesda, Md., and was an active trustee there for nine years. She is a 1970 graduate of Mt. Holyoke College. She is a ntive of Wyomissing, Pa., in Berks County.

Thomas E. Beeman (Lancaster, Pa.) is the President and CEO of Lancaster General Hospital. Prior to joining the hospital in 2005, he served as President and CEO of St. Thomas Health Services in Nashville, Tennessee. He has also held senior positions at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Health System. He is currently a Captain in the U.S. Navy Reserves and serves as Deputy Chief of Staff for Navy Medicine East.

Beeman is a fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, a fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives, and a member of the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States. He is the co-author of the book Leading From Within, Twelve Concepts for Leaders Who Seek a Spiritual Frame of Reference, published in 2005. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees from St. Joseph's University, is a former trustee of Alvernia College and is a PhD(c) at Vanderbilt University.

Wiley W. "Chip" Souba, Jr. M.D, Sc.D. P'10 (Columbus, Ohio) is Dean of the College of Medicine and Professor of Surgery at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He is the author of more than 300 articles, 60 book chapters and the editor of two textbooks. Souba is also the current editor of The Journal of Surgical Research. Outside of scholarship, he is known for his work in leadership development in academic medicine.

Souba is a board-certified surgeon with an interest in surgical oncology and a member of 20 national, regional and specialty-related societies and associations including the American Medical Association, the American Surgical Association, the American College of Surgeons and the Society of University Surgeons. He earned his bachelor's degree from Muskingum College, his M.D. from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, a Sc.D. in Nutritional Biochemistry from the Harvard School of Public Health and an MBA from the Boston University School of Management.

Founded in 1787, Franklin & Marshall College is a coeducational, liberal arts institution. Approximately 2,050 students are enrolled in the college's 40 academic disciplines. The College's 170-acre campus is situated on the outskirts of Lancaster, Pa., a vital, historic city located in the heart of Central Pennsylvania.
