LANCASTER, Pa. - Lancaster bookseller Kinsey Baker '76, owner of The Book Haven, discuss "The Changing World of Book Collecting Through the Eyes of a country Bookseller " during the annual Friends of the Library Lecture at Franklin & Marshall College on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 4:30 p.m. The talk will be held in the Academy Room of the Shadek-Fackenthal Library, and refreshments will be served at 4 p.m. Baker's lecture is free and open to the public. Baker and his wife Kelly own The Book Haven, 2022 Marietta Ave., on the east side of Rohrerstown. They have been in that since 2000 after several decades in Lancaster city. The Book Haven is a former barn filled with 50,000 books and 20,000 other paper items. with a strong collection of Pennsylvania German material. Baker's own interest is children's and illustrated books. He also sells books online. The Friends of the Library at Franklin & Marshall College was organized in 1986 to advance the library as a cultural and historical resource, both within the college and in the larger community. The Friends of the Library provide support for the development of library collections and strives to instill the sense that a library is more than a place to study or warehouse books. The primary goal of the Friends is the acquisition of books or manuscripts that would not normally be obtainable with regular college funds. -30- |
