LANCASTER, Pa. - Editors and authors from Ugly Duckling presse, a nonprofit art and publishing collective, will present a discussion of sustainable small press publishing on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 4:30 p.m., followed by readings at 8 p.m. Both events will take place in Franklin & Marshall's Philadelphia Alumni Writers House.
The presentations are sponsored by the Comparative Literary Studies Program at F&M and are free and open to the public. The Presse favors emerging, international, and "forgotten" writers with well-defined formal or conceptual projects that are difficult to place at other presses. Its full-length books, chapbooks, artist’s books, broadsides, magazine and newspaper all contain handmade elements, calling attention to the labor and history of bookmaking. The 4:30 discussion will be led by editors Anna Moschovakis and Matvei Yankelevich. The 8 p.m. readings will feature poets Matvei Yankelevich and Anna Moschovakis, and poet Dan Machlin (who will be reading from his recent book of poems published by UDP.) -30- |
