LANCASTER, Pa. - Yanira Castro + Company, one of the most inventive dance companies in the nation, will present a program titled "Dark Horse/Black Forest" Oct. 5-7 at Franklin & Marshall's Roschel Performing Arts Center as part of the college's Theater Horizons Performance Series.

Performances will take place at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

"Dark Horse/Black Forest" will also feature local dancer Pamela Vail, who is an instructor and artist in residence at Franklin & Marshall. Vail was one of the Castro company's founding members and has worked with her since 1995. She has toured nationally and internationally with Castro, teaching and performing as a member of the company.

Yanira Castro + Company is a New York-based ensemble of dancers and designers who are dedicated to creating work that fuses experiments in movement with original music, costumes and visual elements such as film, video, and installations to create vivid, contemporary performances.

The Company develops environments for its dances, constructing installations that transform traditional venues or highlight unconventional sites, and are unique to each space in which the piece is performed.
