LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall's musical ensembles will be showcased in a concert on Saturday, Sept 29 at 8 p.m. in the Ann and Richard Barshinger Center for Musical Arts in Hensel Hall.
The concert is a combined choral and instrumental performance in honor of the College's Family Weekend. The event will feature the College Chorus, Chamber Singers, Orchestra, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble and chamber music as well as soloists. The first half of the concert will be the traditional Spectrum event featuring all of the instrumental groups, performing about 55 minutes of music in 55 minutes. As each piece ends, another ensemble will begin, without time for applause. Some of the repertoire will include: selections from Copland's Rodeo, Eric Whitacre's October and Haydn Wood's Mannin Veen. The second half of the concert will feature the College Chorus and Chamber Singers under the direction of Dr. Willliam Wright. The performance is free and open to the public.
